In June of 2015, the Encinitas Union School District received a $720,000 DROPS grant from the California State Water Board to implement and construct six student-led SWPPP engineering projects at five school sites. Students were involved in every step of the project including design engineering, plant selection, contractor selection and on-site construction supervision. With the completion of the construction of the projects, future interns are able to assess the success of their BMPs through continued visual observations and rain event testing. They can compare pre-BMP results to post BMP test results data.
