The local weather forecast indicates a high chance of rain tomorrow. We want you to be prepared for the likelihood that the SWPPP interns will briefly leave class to collect a stormwater runoff sample. The process should take no more than 30 minutes and is one of the most exciting parts of the SWPPP Internship™ Program.
Thank you for supporting the student interns in this hands-on program. Parents: Please send your student to school with a raincoat or umbrella, appropriate shoes and maybe even an extra pair of dry socks. |
SWPPP interns collect stormwater runoff samples at specified drains on campus and send the samples to a certified laboratory to test for the presence of pollutants. These results, along with their monthly visual observations, are the basis of the SWPPP Internship™ Program. Interns use this information to design solutions to reduce pollutants flowing into the storm drains and out to the ocean.
If you have any concerns or questions, please contact your student's classroom teacher or email [email protected].
